I'm hoping my unwanted blog stalker has lost all interest in Pukka Purl, Lickety Splitter and moi, because I think I'm ready to write again.
I've turned a home improvement corner since I was last here. Instead of going to Istanbul back in September, I decided to spend that large chunk of money on my home. I was beginning to think of my long suffering and unfinished bedroom project as Humpty Dumpty. I wasn't sure it was ever going to be put back together again, but lo and behold, I not only shelled out the necessary moolah, I rolled up my sleeves and did my part! It was nearly a full week of hard work on my part, and one full day for the work crew. I am proud to say that I have a 1920s room that has the charm of its era, and the freshness of the new century. What I'm most happy about is having a room with absolutely NO furniture in it, and very little else. I'm so pleased by the sense of order and space, that I've decided to leave it just as it is, at least for now. I find myself going in there just to look at it, and its empty space. Who said that you have to furnish every room in your house?
Besides, I have my eye on a kitchen project that will leave me gasping for sanity and money. I fear there is no going back, I am already in love with a stove. Please don't tell my future husband.

You are crazy. I woulda done Istanbul!
ReplyDelete@Wow man: Yeah, I keep looking over my shoulder to make sure regret isn't sneaking up on me.
ReplyDeleteWhere's the trophy pictures? Istanbul will always be there, but the tranquility and pride of finishing a hard project is priceless.
ReplyDelete@Coffeypot -- you matched my exact sentiments on that decision. I nearly drove myself crazy trying to make a decision about spending $4,400 to travel to Istanbul vs. spending that money (and time) elsewhere. So far, I have no regrets :)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you are back! Even if you didn't go to Istanbul. Of course if you had, I would have wanted to see pictures of the Orient Express train (the only way to go to Istanbul IMHO!)
ReplyDeleteYou sound like you are doing well - and that makes me happy.
Hello Iggy! I know I've been the elusive one lately, but my day job is a nothing short of a boa constrictor lately. I've been relegated to the evening side of blog world, and since there are so few viable hours after work, much of my time is divided between home duties, friends, family and other hobbies. I want to multiply my night hours, but I have yet to find the way.
