Humpty Dumpty ...

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

I'm hoping my unwanted blog stalker has lost all interest in Pukka Purl, Lickety Splitter and moi, because I think I'm ready to write again.

I've turned a home improvement corner since I was last here.   Instead of going to Istanbul back in September, I decided to spend that large chunk of money on my home.  I was beginning to think of my long suffering and unfinished bedroom project as Humpty Dumpty.  I wasn't sure it was ever going to be put back together again, but lo and behold, I not only shelled out the necessary moolah, I rolled up my sleeves and did my part!  It was nearly a full week of hard work on my part, and one full day for the work crew.  I am proud to say that I have a 1920s room that has the charm of its era, and the freshness of the new century.  What I'm most happy about is having a room with absolutely NO furniture in it, and very little else.  I'm so pleased by the sense of order and space, that I've decided to leave it just as it is, at least for now.  I find myself going in there just to look at it, and its empty space.  Who said that you have to furnish every room in your house?

Besides, I have my eye on a kitchen project that will leave me  gasping for sanity and money.  I fear there is no going back, I am already in love with a stove.  Please don't tell my future husband.

Another head scratcher

After 48 days of living without a telephone due to those tree limbs pulling my telephone line and fascia board off of my house http://pukkapurl.blogspot.com/2010/09/trees-glorious-trees.html, I am proud to announce that I once again have phone service!  About a week or so ago, I finally texted my favorite repairman, who promptly replied.  A few days later he and/or his crew came over and beautifully handled the repair within an afternoon's time.  They came and went before I got home from work, so I never saw him or anyone from his crew, just their impeccable work.  He sent me a text later that evening asking me if everything looked okay.  I replied, "Big smile = better than okay.  Thanks for great job!  How much do I owe you?  Should I mail payment or will you pick up?"  He did not reply.  So, the next day, I sent him another text, asking him if he had gotten my text, because I had not gotten a reply from him.  He said sorry, told me how much repair cost, and that he would pick it up "sometime."  I said, okay, just let me know when.  A week has passed since that time, and I have heard nothing from him.  Last night, I sent him another text asking for his address so I could mail payment.   Then the crickets started chirping, and I am still waiting for him to text me, call me or come by for his money.

I loathe owing people, so I am eager to pay Mr. Repairman.  I am perplexed as to why he initially responded and fixed my problem faster than I can get him to take his money.  I am assuming Mr. Repairman isn't in a hurried need for $150.00, or that he has been busy elsewhere, but I am still scratching my head as to why he doesn't just give me a mailing address so I can send him his money.  In the past Mr. Repairman has been overtly flirty with me, so my friend thinks there is something more to this story than meets the eye.  I scoff at my friend's suspicion because Mr. Repairman could have done more than be overtly flirty the last time we had contact, like ask me out on a date, but he didn't.  My friend pointed out that Mr. Repairman did not ask me out because he had just started seeing someone, but that he had continued his flirty behavior.  She said his present non money taking behavior says to her that there may be trouble in paradise.  She thinks he is keeping his options open.  I poo-poohed her theory, and told her that some people are just flirty like that.  I reminded her that I too can be innocently flirty.  She gave me a look, and left me scratching my head as to why I can't get him to take his well deserved money.
