I've been matchmaking ...

First time for everything, or so they say.  I've never EVER attempted to match make among my friends, but tonight, I made an exception, and arranged a dinner with my best guy friend and one of my friends from work.  We went to dinner (him, her and me) so they could meet.  They actually live in the same subdivision, and have for years, but they had never met.  I tried to get either of the two of them to bake some cookies and go meet their "neighbor," but that wasn't working, so MEXICAN it was. I definitely think each of them liked the other, so I know they will at least be better neighbors and hopefully friendly friends.  If a spark wanted to happen, I'm sure my presence was slightly inhibiting. I can be bubbly and very talkative when I'm "hosting" a party or  a meeting, and I felt responsible for making this meeting happen, so I made sure things were as lively as would do justice to any Mexican restaurant that sports tequila (none of which I had -- I'm not bragging, just stating a boring fact).  A good time seemed to be had by all.  Now, it's time to wait and see what comes of that.  Hope they both are still talking to me tomorrow.

Anyways, it has been a day of socializing.  Today was my brother's birthday and I treated him to lunch to help him celebrate the occasion.  You gotta let your people know that you love them and that you think they are special.  I have always tried to do that, but I had room for improvement, and when the new year rolled around, I thought well ... that's one thing I can do ... think more of others and less of myself.  It's easy for me to get wrapped up in my own little world sometimes, especially since I am extremely comfortable spending a great deal of time alone.  The lovely thing about showing people what they mean to you, is that you get their lovely company in return. And what's not to love about that?  :)

  1. So, are they still talking to you today? :) Now that they've met WITH you, maybe they can meet WITHOUT you and see how it goes.

I am so with you on that "extremely comfortable spending a great deal of time alone". We're soul mates, my friend.

  2. You've really been on socializing streak!

Happy Birdy day to your bro.

...and good luck to the "new couple" to possibly be.

  3. @Furry Bottoms -- Yep, they are still talking to me :) Co-worker/friend's telephone number has been given to my best guy friend. What happens next is totally up to them.

@Intense Guy -- More than usual that's for sure!
