Are you there God? It's me Lickety Splitter.

Dear God and/or the Universe:

You definitely have me curious.   Even though I noticed again for myself the curious way of the world last week, you have now thrown the good book at me.  I often look around me for evidence of you, but you are apparently concerned that I am going to miss some sort of communication from you.  Call me paranoid, delusional or slightly wacky, but I think you have been sending messengers ahead of you to put me on notice of something.  What I don't know, but something, and it must be something that you really want me to hear.    (Note to readers:  See last two post entries readers if you are confused.)

During Sunday's sermon, you told me for the third time in less than a week that there is no such thing as coincidence and that all things are related.  You added that you DO send signs in the form of any and everything, because you control the Universe and that you are ANY and EVERYTHING.  You said I could see these signs in nature, in song, in people, in a simple phrase, in a sermon, in the bible, in a cloud .... in fact, in anything, and that even if the "sign" was inconsequential to someone else, that I would know beyond a shadow of a doubt that the sign is for me.  Well, I hear ya God.  Loud and clear.  The thing I'm unclear about is what you are currently trying to tell me other than to LISTEN UP.  Let me assure you that I'm listening with eyes, ears and heart, because I'm actually always happy to hear from you.

Eminem -- Beautiful

Lately I've been hard to reach
I've been too long on my own
Everybody has their private world
Where they can be alone

Are you calling me?
Are you trying to get through?
Are you reaching out for me?
I'm reaching out for you.

God, I know Eminem is Mister Curse-A-Lot, but I actually like the "cleaner" version of that song and thought the lyrics worked here.  I wanted to post the video but I didn't want to offend anyone, especially you, but then, I'm thinking that I just might anyways, because there isn't much you haven't heard God, and you already know that Eminem curses a lot.

  1. Hmmm... so what is he/she doing besides messing with your head?

Whats the outlook on "predeterminism" and "fate"?

  2. @Iggy -- well, I can't say for sure, but I always enjoy hearing from God or the Universe (I think God is the Universe and more), it makes me feel less alone in the midst of all the people, so I'm not really complaining, just keeping tabs of my observations as I tarry along with this thing called life. As for predeterminism and fate, I will have to give that some thought.

  3. Oh great! Now I gotta find a hidden meaning in a leaf falling when the wind isn’t blowing or a bird chirping after dusk? You think God is trying to tell me to watch out for something when I hear a car horn blow and do not see the car? Shit! All I wanna do is eat my banana sandwich and watch a little TV. Now I gotta find meaning in that, too? Philosophy is the only class in college I made a ’D’ in. Too much thinking and doubting for me. I just like life, period. If God wants me to know something, He knows my e-mail address.

  4. @CP = No Mr. Coffey, you do not have to look for any sign in anything. If God is talking to you, you will just know it. So relax and have a banana sandwich or two ... watch TV ... ignore the car horns ... but watch both ways across the street.

  5. I never thought I'd see Eminem mentioned in a prayer...but he is very introspective at times.

  6. @Stephanie -- yeah I thought that posting Eminem's video and using a few of his lyrics might border on bad taste in the presence of anything Godly, but if God loves me, he certainly loves Eminem ;)

The introspective side of Eminem is what I totally like about him. Makes you wonder where all that introspection comes from. Usually from strife, challenges, struggles ... but who knows if that's the case for Eminem. I don't know anything about his history.
