Two completely random thoughts

Horticulture, environmental geoscience or law? Hmmmmmm .... the quest for direction goes on. I keep asking, but I have yet to hear that still calm voice I will defer to.

Is super sizing your bathroom really necessary? Really? No, really? How's that indentured servitude to your super sized bathroom going?

You Got Me ...

You aren't here to read this, but with the angst of my day which has reduced me to a steady stream of tears, I have a need to put my woe in writing in my small world.

We are no longer together in the physical realm, but when we were, I got you. I really got you. I frequently took issue with your take on life, and you mine. You frequently drove me to the brink of a screaming abyss. You repeatedly drove me to break up with you, but I never failed to see where you were coming from. And what I miss most about you, is the thing I loved most about you, YOU never failed to GET ME. I mean you got me, you really got me. You loved every feisty element of me which could combine and explode fiercely from deep within my sense of injustice ... each feisty element gathering in a laser beam capable of shooting down twinkling stars circling stolen halos, hell bent on justice and correcting all the things I perceived to be wrong in my small world. This explosive passion is often a negative to the ordinary man, some people in my life's general, and even elements of my own family. However, you delighted in my passion and we found ourselves gravitationally pulled towards one another, even though we would eventually always repel. In every way that we differed, we had a myriad of things in common, the best of which I have never experienced in any other relationship I have ever had. I could see people furrow their brow at the nature of our relationship, hell, so did I, and so did you, but we knew the secret of what kept us coming back ... I got you and you got me on issues that we were hard pressed to be in agreement with when dealing with others.

And today, unlike most of my recent days, I desperately miss you.

Don't worry, we got you covered.

I finished reading "The Happiness Project" by Gretchen Rubin and three light read books by a southern author.  I am now reading "Fearless" by Max Lucado.  I haven't read further than the introduction, but I already love the cover!  Book covers are a newly discovered passion of mine. I love how they seem to be holding hands with the title. To think, they never caught my attention or smacked me in my imagination until recently! If you are feeling even slightly creative, think of a visual that would correlate to the title "Fearless."

A very minor revelation ... and ANNOYANCE 043

Until recently, I never stopped to consider why businesses who grow plants called those businesses "plant nurseries." After spending the last couple of months tending to my recently installed landscape, I now know. Those newbies are a bunch of whiney babies! Babies constantly demand more milk and for you to wipe their bottoms. Plants constantly demand more water and for you to weed their bottoms. You really do have to tend to them almost every day until they mature enough to make it on their own.

I feel like I have one natural child and one red-headed step-child. No offense to any of you red-heads or step-children, it's just something people say around here when they feel neglected. My front yard is apparently my natural child because I always keep a close eye on its needs. My side yard no doubt feels like a red-headed step-child who is often neglected in favor of its sibling. My neglect is not intentional, I am only guilty of succumbing to the "out of sight, out of mind" principle. I almost panicked when I remembered yesterday that the side yard had not been watered in over a week. When I rounded the corner, I was properly chagrined when I saw that my Sasanqua Camellia's leaves were starting to furl .... cringing from my neglect and being bullied by the sun. If it were a child, I would have been charged with neglect and abuse. I am so ashamed.  I pledge to do a better job, lest some Greek goddess of nature takes notice and thinks it necessary to dole out a smite, shoot me with an arrow or get Zeus to strike me down with a thunderbolt. I don't know what her method of penance would be, and I don't care to find out.

A dream is but a dream ...

I like to believe that I am one put together chick. And, I know that in many ways I am. What I don’t like to admit to everyone, is that I have never ending pleas quietly gnawing at my soul. Long ago, I romanticized the dreams I have since accomplished, but I now feel like a tap rooted dandelion. Ever try to extract one of those from unforgiving dirt?

Over the last few years, I have been experiencing the collision of dreams past with those calling for their turn. It feels like a dream (those of the night time variety, not the goal kind of dream) I once had wherein I was set to marry two men on the same day. One man blonde, one man brunette, both tall and both handsome. Talk about a happy dilemma. I knew I couldn’t legally marry both of these men, and that I would have to choose, but I couldn’t choose ... I just couldn’t. They were both so PERFECT. Perfect with a big Ole P. So, what happens when you are happily stressed in a dream? The same thing that happens when you are being chased by a gnarly zombie with rotting flesh. You wake up and realize you are no longer about to be happily married to one of two gorgeous men or two of two gorgeous men.

Hmmm, maybe not an exact analogy, but close enough. I actually have two PERFECT dreams to choose from, but I can’t have both at the same time. And, I want both. It never ever occurred to me before, that my realized dream would one day be a foil to a new dream.  Stand ready past and present ... future is spoiling for a fight.

There ain't nothing casual about my Friday!

(For any of you non southerners or for that fact southerners, who never use the word ain't, I would politely ask you to bear with my heritage.  If not, I (and my fellow ain't speaking southerners) will take great pride in any disdain you may broach.  We love that you underestimate our intellect based on our southern-ease ;)  Now, for the rest of the story ...

It's just another Friday here in our office.  It's also the designated "casual day" at our office.  The allowance of a casual dress day was such a departure from our long established dress code (50 years), that the GRAND POOBAHS decided we should have a sign made up and placed on the receptionist's desk to inform the public that Friday is "casual day" in our office, lest our clients be taken aback or shocked into cardiac arrest by the sea of khakis that would supposedly supplant our respective business suits, ties, dress trousers, dresses and required hosiery for the ladies.  Granted, most employees do take advantage of casual Friday to don their khakis or at least less formal trousers.  I, on the other hand, delight in the irony of standing by that sign in full on dress up finery on Fridays.  I started taking the wardrobe to the next level on Fridays after they allowed the casual attire, just because I thought that sign was the height of ridiculousness.  Now, I dress up on Fridays, most always donning a dress, heels and silky hosiery, because I quickly recognized the advantage of showing up in a dress and heels in that sea of khakis ;)

Open one liner to PJM

I hear everything you never say, and I hear it in living color.
