You ROCK!

Hey, bloggers whom I follow.  I just wanted to send out a BIG shout of THANKS and PRAISE for your dedicated and entertaining blogging.  To be honest with you, I wouldn't normally think of thanking you for all the entertainment and enjoyment you provide me (and of course countless others), but I have been perusing other blogs by way of the "next blog" option at the top of my blog page, and I was reminded of what great blogs you each write.

I am not sure what makes for an appealing blog for anyone other than me, but I noticed how particular I am about blogs, by how fast I was pushing the next "next blog" button.  I passed over many of those "next blogs" simply because their sites looked chaotic.  I passed over a crazy amount of others, because I am only fluent in this language ... the language you are currently reading.  I passed over other blogs, because they were geared only towards commerce or one subject such as photography, cooking or gardening (all good subjects to be sure).

I seek blogs that allow me a peek into who others are, not just the hobbies which they pursue.  I seek blogs which are playful even when they are serious.  And of course, who doesn't seek those blogs most witty among us?

I don't take negative pleasure in other people's dramas, their daily dilemmas or their dark moods, but I do take pleasure in their trusting vulnerability and humanity.  I love being able to relate to people, or to simply see another point of view.  I love hearing about both accomplishments and struggles.  I love hearing about everyday lives.

I've discovered from all this "next blog" action, that finding blogs which I can perpetually enjoy, is sort of like hunting for prize Easter eggs, and I count myself lucky to have found all of you.

Everyday humanity without its sugar coat.

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

uH oh.  I think I may be nearing testy time.  I'm having slightly evil thoughts.  Not the evil kind of thoughts which say, "Go ahead, push him off the curb into oncoming traffic, you know you want to."

No NO, I NEVER have those evil kind of thoughts.  I never think to myself, "I knew I should have blown that blasted cult from here to kingdom come.  Smithereens would've been just about the right size!"

No, no that's not me.    I would never think something like that.

Okay fine, I might have thought that last one, but who doesn't feel vengeful every other decade or so?  The point to remember is that I have NEVER acted on any fleeting vengeful thought.

Besides, I'm only having slightly evil thoughts.  The kind of thoughts which repeatedly say throughout the day, "I know he didn't just say that.  Who says stuff like that?"  "OMG, is he talking again?  Seriously, just ignore him."

I have succeeded in remaining silent ... but my irritable thoughts have caused me to wonder what everyone else is thinking at any given time.  You never know, when someone is thinking to themselves, "Hmmm, I wonder if she can swim."

Have you had one less than charitable thought today?

How about yesterday?

No?  Can I touch the hem of your robe?

Ho Ho Ho ....

Merry Christmas from:

The Big Guy

IN RED

and from:

Blue Christmas me ;)

My oh my, how fast hair grows.  Didn't I just get a haircut?
Definitely haven't seen any highlights in
months and months.
Maybe even over a year.
  I swear I see some silver tinsel shining through
nature's first attempt.

Oh well,
Christmas comes, Christmas goes.
As do we.

Let Santa and I serve as examples of where all that
Merry Christmas snacking will get ya!

Big Brother ain't got nothing on Little Sister

Yeah, I said ain't, and you can kiss my southern a&& vocabulary, if you don't approve)

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Said blogger went to her favorite local grocery store.  A store which said blogger depends on for nice smells, well stocked items and stellar customer service.

Said blogger smelled the nice smells and found all the things she was looking for, as well as a couple of things she NEVER intends to buy such as the tiniest bag (1.5 oz ... maybe?) of BBQ chips which Lay's makes and a small snack size pack of Fig Newtons (2 to a pack).

What?  Don't you know that a girl needs a little sweet with her salt.

Said blogger proceeded to the checkout counter where she was promptly subjected to a purchase INSPECTION.  The inspector looked astonishingly like a waifish teenaged bagger instead of a burly homicide detective.  Said slip of a girl, who looked to be no more than 102 pounds soaking wet, inspected each one of said blogger's items closely before putting them in a bag.  I (yeah, "said blogger" is me, no surprise there) noticed this close review of my purchases and thought it was odd, but I wasn't overly annoyed until Inspector Bagit reached for the last item.  The teeny bag of BBQ chips.

I had finished paying, and was taking my receipt from the cashier, when Inspector Bagit held up the chips to the cashier (who looked to be barely out of her teens).  The cashier looked quizzically at Inspector Bagit, and Inspector Bagit quickly pointed to the nutritional box on the back of the teeny bag of chips while exclaiming, " Oh my God, would you look at that, this small bag of chips has one-half of my daily allowance of FAT in it."  I stared blankly at them, even though I really wanted to give Inspector Bagit the LOOK.  I simultaneously stuffed my receipt into my purse and waited for the Olsen Twins to complete their exchange.  Inspector Bagit finally put the chips in a bag, and handed my bags off to me.  Inspector Bagit then turned back to the cashier and said, "I just noticed because it was such a small bag."

REALLY Inspector Bagit?  You practically mauled every one of my other items before putting them in the bag.  Why didn't you also announce them to the world?  HEY EVERYONE this lady who still needs to lose 5 pounds is buying FIG NEWTONS and BBQ CHIPS.

I can't wait until that heifer puts on a few more years and a few more American pounds.  Okay, fine that isn't very Christmas spirited of me.  I take that last sentence back.  Uh, not the very last sentence, the one before that one.

Afterthought -- OMG what if I had been buying a pack of ribbed TROJANS size XL, some Boudreaux's Butt Paste, or something else mighty mighty PERSONAL?

Is it me, or is je ne sais quoi in serious short supply lately?

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

It's Christmas present wrapping day.  I'm not one of those people who wrap presents the same day I purchase them.  I'm a procrastinating wrapper.  Fortuntely though, I'm not a last minute shopper or present wrapper.  Distaste for the stress of last minute anything, serves as my impetus, and I usually ride its momentum to the finish line.  I'm at the half way point, and whaddya know, I've run out of appropriately sized boxes, which is the story of my life.  So, I decided to take a facebook break, and discovered that a handsome fellow had messaged me out of the blue.  I didn't know him from any other stranger on facebook, but noticed we had mutual friends, so I read his message which read as follows:

Handsome man said, "Fancy"

Yep, that was it.  One word.

I wrote him back and asked, "Have you been hacked, or are you a man of few words."

Handsome man said, "man of few words whats your oppinion
(note:  that was his extra p, not my typo)

I wrote back and said, "I have lots of opinions, but I don't proclaim them to be anyone else's truth."

Handsome man said, "educated hope not to bother"

I said, "Fancy? Educated? Are you speaking of me, or you?  Me, I'm not fancy. Far from it. I'm slightly educated and overly blessed with natural but non nosy curiosity."

Handsome man wrote, "cat problem of curious far from school smart notice your pic under friend's page  clicked and started talking hows things so far"

Before I could reply, handsome man wrote, "sorry for the interruption you might be married no info on status"

I wrote back, "No worries.  I was taking a break from wrapping Christmas presents.  Since you mentioned it, I'm not married.  Does my relationship status determine whether or not we should be facebook friends?"  He had intermittently sent me a friend request.

I don't know about y'all, but I'm not convinced by good looks.  Yes, they peak my interest, but they are far from any deciding factor.  And, I'm not snooty about typos or poor typing skills, but I think when someone says they clicked and started talking, that they would have thought to write more than one word, especially at the onset of communication.  Because, a man of one word, isn't everyone's type.  I personally like a man who is interested in the world around him, and happy to share his interests with me.  I also enjoy a man who can construct a simple sentence.

"Our" disjointed dialogue went on and he finally got around to this stunner of a line, "you are very pretty has been nice talking to you ... "

What a shame I'm not smitten with anything other than his good looks.  But hey, that is another story of my life.  I may entertain and even choose someone who isn't my preferred physical type, but I never fall for someone who doesn't display a certain je ne sais quoi.

Ring ring ... hey, where's the phone?

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Good day?  Yeah, it was.  The only crappy part was discovering that the cordless phone had fallen behind the stove.  I had to think outside of the "pull the stove away from the wall" box, because I couldn't pull the damn stove away from the wall.  Don't ask how the phone fell behind the stove.  That part isn't interesting.  Come to think of it, neither is how I got the phone out from behind the stove, even though it was a multi-step process, which involved a flashlight, a pair of limb cutters and an umbrella, and me lying on the kitchen floor sticking my hand where no hand has gone before.  Did I mention I don't like sticking my hand in places where I cannot simultaneously see.  I'm just wondering how all that dog food got behind the stove, along with a boxed Burrito dinner mix ... and my God ... what is that?  A loofah sponge?  What's a loofah sponge doing behind the stove?  Hell, what'a loofah sponge even doing in the kitchen?

Hey, lower your judgmental eyebrows.  When is the last time you cleaned beneath or behind your stove?  In my defense, I will have you know, that I can't get that stove to budge, and the broom won't fit under it, and my vacuum's hand held wand isn't long enough.  And hey, who knew that lower drawer (where you store cake pans and baking sheets) came out?  I had no previous need to be curious.  At least, I didn't know I had a need to know.  Now that I do, I will be sure to forget again.  It's scary under there.
