20 Q & A's for February 20

1. What are three things that you are looking forward to?

Gee, that was almost a stumper. But then, I realized I'm eagerly looking forward to Spring, the completion of the design phase of my landscaping project, and my D. C. trip targeted for the Memorial Day holiday.

2. What is your favorite kind of tree?

It's a toss up between the Live Oak and the Ginkgo.

3. What is the newest thing you own?

Either a new bronze colored skirt suit or a new blouse, I can’t remember which.

4. If I do anything well, it’s:

Complain. Don’t raise your eye brows. I’m not bragging, I’m seriously working on complaining less.

5. What is your favorite dessert?

I love cake. I am not usually discriminating about cake, but my absolute favorite is a yellow cake with milk chocolate icing.

6. Do you use a planner?

No, I pretty much wing it and depend on my memory to remind me when and where I need to be or what I need to do.

7. What is your all-time favorite TV comedy?

All-time favorite? Huh ... why I gotta have a favorite? I like The Office.

8. What is your current obsession?

I can’t tell you, you may report me, and he may apply for a restraining order. Kidding, no man has the sort of hold over me to induce me to call him 14 times in a row in one night. My current obsession would be worry. I’m worried about the usual – the economy, my job which has lost its everyday appeal, my declining spelling skills, my bad eating habits, creating the most fulfilling life I can possibly have, and the list goes on.

9. Three signs Spring is here:

When the Dogwood trees bloom, when the Azaleas bloom, and last but not least, because this is the surest Spring sign of all in the deep south, when the Pecan trees finally bloom. When the Pecan trees bloom, not only will it be Spring, it will also be warm days from then til fall.

The fourth sign is ME, DOING THE HAPPY DANCE.

10. Do you balance your checkbook or wing it?

I used to balance my checkbook to the penny every month, but now, I just wing it. I don’t even check my balance online like a lot of people do, I just sort of feel my way in the dark. I can do this, because I’m an upfront saver and I have overdraft protection.

11. What kind of grapes do you prefer?

Seedless. Refrigerated to chilly perfection. I’m not picky about their color.

12. What is your favorite store-bought cookie?

Fig Newtons. I like their cake like texture.

13. What was your fifth grade teacher's name?

I don’t even remember being in the fifth grade, and I can barely remember any of my teacher’s name. But, I do remember this one elementary teacher named Mrs. Mason with nothing but loathing. I was new to her class, and during lunch, apparently I sat on the "wrong" side of the table, and she smacked me on my backside in front of God and everyone for doing so. Hell, I didn't know there was a right side to sit on. Mrs. Mason and people like her (who would humiliate a child like that) are the reason lots of kids lose their love of school. It's not learning they lose love for, it's bad teachers and mean ass kids.

14. High school was:

Typical, nothing but typical. I didn't particularly love it, or hate it.

15. Describe your dream kitchen.

I don’t cook much, but I would love a very classic kitchen, and I do mean classic, not today’s traditional. I want lots of sunlight, cabinets that reach to the ceiling in order to get every ounce of storage possible, wooden floors, french doors to the outside, and a cozy seating place for people to hang out with me.

16. What was the last thing you purchased?

Peanut M & Ms.

17. How many of your friendships have lasted more than a decade?

Wow, that’s too many for me to name. I don’t see them or talk to them as often as I could, but we have no problem catching right back up where we left off when we run into each other or purposefully connect.

18. Are there times when you still feel like a kid?

Yeah, maybe part of me always will feel like a kid, since I don’t have children of my own.

19. What teacher from high school comes to mind first?

I don’t give two hoots about high school, so stop asking me about it.

20. What magazines do you read?

Don’t even think I’m gonna pull a Sarah Palin brain dead moment on you when it comes to what magazines I read. I LOVE MAGAZINES! I will read most any intelligent and informative magazine, such as Reader’s Digest, Newsweek, The Economist, Time, Psychology Today, and the list goes on. I also love home decorating magazines. My favorite home decorating magazines include Cottage Living (now defunct), Southern Living, Traditional Home, Renovation Style, and that list goes on too.
