Snow Day in the Deep South

I know most of you are no strangers to snow, but to hear tell it around these parts, it hasn't snowed as hard as it did today around here since 1973, when our area got about five inches of snow. Five inches of snow may not seem like much to yall, but the one to three inches we got today is a big deal around here. It was almost like a mirage in the desert ...

Here are a few of pics I took of my home today and a couple from the park down the street. As you can see, my home is perfectly pitched for snow days :)

I think of my home as a Tudor/Bungalow style. It's not huge, but it lives big for me. When people visit me for the first time, they notice a not very wide house, so it surprises them when they come inside and they realize it goes much deeper.

Below are a couple of photos I took at the park at the end of my street. It is a natural lime sink surrounded by trees. When my neighborhood was first developed back in the 1920s, they tried to make a lake out of this lime sink, but it would not hold water even though it will collect water in heavy rains ... so they couldn't make a lake out of it, or build on it, and we now have a great park for all sorts of activites. Today's activities were snow related ... snowball fights and snowman building.

  2. I'm reposting this "Snow Day" blog with a few southern snowpeople added in for your viewing entertainment. I say snowpeople, because I'm pretty sure those two with the umbrellas are ladies ;)
