It's gonna cost ya ...

People, I'm sorry for being a lamenting pud this week.  I much prefer being irate over being down in spirit.  I promise to pick my lowly spirits off the cutting room floor and get on with it, all of it, whatever the hell it is.  Job or no job (yes, I still have a job).  I also have a house which only demands a yearly tax snack (never mind that the tax man has gotten hungrier lately), and I have enough savings to hold me for a while.  So, if things go from bad to worse or if I crack under the creepy ass silence around here, I am way better off than lots of people I know.  Not to brag or anything, but I am also skilled at sweeping things under the rug, hiding under the covers and putting on rose colored glasses.  So, my tool box of life is full of coping mechanisms which are eager to escort me to the next gala.  The only real problem is my nemesis, Opportunity Cost!  That shyster is always hanging around!!! 

Wrestling with Opportunity Cost is a serious undertaking for me.  The low life, hostage taker, consistently sneaks two things I dearly love on the game table, and lets out what I dare say is a somewhat evil laugh when he confirms my true weakness.  I often want both opportunities, I would love to have them both, but life won't let me have them both simultaneously.  So, I put them each under a microscope, sit back and watch their behaviors, I scratch them, I sniff them, I poke them, and I shuffle them around and try to pretend I would never play favorites.  But, inevitably, I will.  I will always choose the one which will cause me to regret not choosing the other one.  And, so it goes ... not just my life, but everyone's life ... shelling out the hidden cost of another opportunity.
