Doing the happy dance!

My friend has invited me to the beach Valentine's weekend, and I am SOOOOO GOING. I love the Gulf of Mexico! Crossing my fingers for blue skies and a blue sea.

The pictures below are some I took while wiling away a few days on The Forgotten Coast.

Amazingly enough, I never tire of dreaming my days away on these sandy shores.

My EXB and I once drove to this same beach on an inky summer night under the light of one of the most beautiful of full moons. It was huge and swinging low in the sky. It looked as if you could literally reach out of the jeep window and stroke its creamy skin. When we arrived, we made our way to the beach. It was a beautiful night, it was warm, but not too hot, and of course the moon was still right there with us. You could see the fine grains of the sand under its white glow and watch the ghost crabs scurry about. It was one of those amazing sort of evenings when all seems right with the world.

This was of course the same trip during which we had a knock down drag out argument about whether or not women and men could really be friends (I think they can), made up with less than the same ardor, and he later let me drive his standard shift jeep back home. That was brave on his part. I had not driven a stick shift in some time (I miss driving those). Not sure which made that beach trip soooo memorable, but I suspect it was the combination. A fat moon, a big fat argument and an occasional jerk, lurch and grind on the ride home ... made for one memorable trip.

  1. The blue of the ocean in the last picture... is that really? WOW, I'd love to go there someday! I didn't think there were any ocean waters that blue near the USA.

  3. Ha ha ... yep, that is blue sand, but not really. I'm no professional picture taker. It was dusk, I snapped a shot, and that's what I got.

As for the water looking that blue, sometimes, the water is even more beautiful there. It can be as blue as a sapphire with shades of green. When it is, it's pure eye candy!
