Cha ching ...

Ring ring goes the happy bell.  The tax man gets first and second cut.  The home insurer steps up for the next piece of pie, and I will be left with less than half, but that is nothing over which to cry.  Whoooooooo hoooooooo!   A shout out to my employers who today showered me with appreciation and a lovely Christmas bonus.  It was apparently a bumper year in spite of the economy, and for more than selfish reasons, that makes me a happy camper.

I'm not frugal, but I am fiscally conservative, so whatever I have left after paying my property taxes and my house insurance which are both due by the end of the year, will go into savings to recoup some of the funds which were tapped in the spring for my new landscaping.  The good thing about being put off by homogenized America, is the fact that I no longer want want want.  I've always been a saver, but lately, I have felt the need to up the ante.  I have another level of freedom in my sight!

Santa has nothing on my employers :)

  1. Isn't is like a weight being lifted off your shoulders when the extra money comes in and you can get some nagging bills out of the way without having to use regular income. I’m happy for you.

  2. @Coffey -- I used to feel that lovely unburdened feeling much more accutely before I freed myself from personal debt. But yes, it is still nice to feel appreciated and receive what feels like a cherry on top of a luscious sundae. Extra is always nice, especially when one has gone without a raise for three years in a bad economy, while everything around is going up by leaps and bounds, including taxes, insurance, gas, food, utilities, and the list goes on.

  4. @Nikki -- Yep, it is a great feeling, even though I already had the money saved for my taxes and insurance. At least I get to keep that money for a future need or goal. I'm very grateful for my job and the unexected bonus.

I hope Santa is good to you! P.S. I got your Christmas card. I love it!

  5. I wouldn't begrudge the taxes but we singles paying for school taxes for decades is ranklesome.

  6. @Iggy -- I feel your pain. I wouldn't mind so much paying for other's children educations, since our future depends on them, but from what I can tell, they aren't getting much in the way of an education these days. If they are, it doesn't seem to be sticking.

  8. @Jay -- yeah, sorry about that. Every once in a while, I change my mind after I have written and posted. Something about some of my writing makes me second guess myself. Happens in verbal too, but then I can't take it back ;)

  9. In the army your allowed to take back your words by following said last words with "I retract my last" Seriously I learnt that in bootcamp.

  10. @Jay -- Ggosh, that's good to know. Wonder if it works in civilian life. I didn't know you were in the army. Canadian army, I'm guessing.

  12. @Jay -- Good for you! I was thinking so, since you are a Canadian :) and because my last boyfriend never mentioned that he could retract any words in the U.S. Army.
