Pulling up the bootstraps

I read somewhere today that loneliness is catching just like a cold, so I'm trying to cure me before I infect someone else.

Therefore, I accepted an invitation to have lunch with my friend Leigh and I also accepted an invitation to go see the movie "The Blind Side" with Ebony, a friend of a friend. Our mutual friend Amanda moved to another state but she decided that Ebony and I should carry on their movie tradition. I can't promise to say yes to every movie Ebony may want to see, but I'm at least willing to go today.

I have promised myself to feel what I'm feeling, but to act cheerful, to concentrate on the positives and to say yes more often to invites. Nothing as crazy as Danny Wallace, the real "Yes Man," but more often than I have been lately. There is reason for me to be sad, but there is no true reason for me to be lonely. Granted, life is ever changing, and some of my primary people have come and gone, but there always seems to be new people on the horizon. In fact, my life would be viewed by truly lonely people as brimming with friends and family who seem to enjoy my company and continually request my company. Although I am with people daily, I can often feel lonely even in their midst. This may simply be a side effect of withdrawal from everyday love and an everyday friendship. Hopefully, it won't last too long because I view myself as a happy natured person (albeit a bit rowdy), and this mood doesn't match my self view. I will let you know how I liked the movie.

  1. Sounds like a good plan. There is that quote that goes something like "the colour of our thoughts strain our soul". Taking positive steps is definitely the way forward.

Your mention of Danny Wallace made me smile straight away. I remember when he invaded Eel Pie Island!

  2. I don't recall his Eel Pie Island invasion. I'm going to have to give that a google.

    Thanks for the encouragement Jasmine!
