These ominous words standing on their own WITHOUT fail annoy the snot out of me:
"Can you do me a favor, a BIG favor?"
What the *@%$ ? Seriously, are they hoping to hear, "OMG, I WOULD LOVE TO DO YOU A BIG FAVOR, NO MATTER WHAT IT IS."

Thank God the favor wasn't BIG. I was worried this person wanted to borrow $20,000 or something like that. I was almost afraid to ask what the favor was, so I didn't. Instead, I said, "I would likely do you lots of favors, but it really depends on what it is. I'm not about to jump out of a plane with you or anything."
