Get a life!

Sometimes, when I've caught up with all of your posts (yeah, I'm talking to you), and when you, my closest blogging peeps, are off doing other things, I sneak over to "Blogs of Note" and poke around.  Every time I see a blogger post about being honored and how they are soooooooooooooooooo excited that they have been chosen as a Blogger of Note, I think to myself ... @#$%^&!  (sorry but that's the word that comes to mind).  If that happened to me, I would run and pull the covers over my head.  After about an hour, I would peer over the top of the cover ... and furtively look out with shifty eyes to be certain 600 people weren't looking back at me.

Don't get me wrong, I like having readers (or followers as we are all known), because I like a sense of community.  I am grateful for every single one of you, even those of you who never leave a comment.  However, I'm not sure I could handle the pressure of hundreds of new followers overnight.  Imagine it, hundreds of new followers .... OVERNIGHT.  I think that would shock my sensibilities into retreat mode.  All of them rushing back inside at one time would create such a ruckus that they would surely wake up my self doubt.  I can hear my self doubt now ... "OMG, she's not all that to have that many followers.  Her life isn't interesting in the least.  How will she ever keep all of those people entertained?  She doesn't have children to talk about, she doesn't have a husband to wail on about, she doesn't ever do anything exciting.  She doesn't grow exotic chickens, have a superman cape or explore the jungles of South America.  She's never been to Machu Picchu or ridden a camel or wrestled an alligator.  OMG, how did this happen?  Get me some water, I think I am going to faint!"

Whew ... thank Goodness this hasn't happened to me.  I don't want anyone else telling me to "get a life."  I have to hear that every day from myself, and I can hardly deal with the self pressure of it all.

You should know by now that I'm only half serious about all that.  I think it's great for the Bloggers of Note to be Bloggers of Note.  Not all of them share my mundane sense of humor, but they never fail to open up the view from here, and I delight in having them all there to choose from.

  3. Every now and then, when one of my follwers is really bored and looking for something to post, they will send me an award. Not that I deserve it, but just so they will have something to do. I appreciate them but I don't follow the rules. I don't do the questions and I don't forward the award because I have some awesome peeps (and you are one, too) that I follow and I cannot (and will not) choose any over the other. And I might pick up one or two new followers to start with. Then, after a few of my post, they run screaming, covering their eyes and ears. So don't sweat it.

  4. Well, you might not have children to talk about or a husband to wail about but you make me smile and thats enough for me. If I'm honest, I don't think people should share every picture and memory of their childrens childhood on the internet. Even putting pictures on Facebook with security settings makes me feel wobbly and cautious. People who constantly talk about their partnenrs, should spend more time talking to their partners ands lets face it, there are only so many cute pet pictures you can see before it all becomes boring. Your brand of humour beats that :)

This blogging community however that shares our thoughts on our own lives and kindles beautiful freindships is a special environment I never knew existed until my hour of need. So special.

Sorry i've missed out on your posts of late, with one thinkg or another, I'm lucky to spend much time on the computer these days.

You take care sweet lady xJ

  5. @Coffeypot - you do so deserve all those awards! Take those award ceremonies like a man! The great blogging man we all know you are! I for one love your wicked sense of humor. Thanks for the nice words ;)

@Jasmine -- Hello sweet you. Nice to hear from you as always. I wasn't intentionally downwardly comparing myself to all those lucky people with spouses and children. I just wonder sometimes, where any of my thoughts come from ... the thoughts I deem worthy of posting ... since I don't have a live-in cast of characters. I mostly write to amuse myself, but there are days when I feel as blank as the page looking back at me. When that happens, I start typing and something, albiet nothing Pulitzer worthy, always pops out.
