Vegas Baby ...

I rolled into Sin City yesterday.  My friends had not arrived yet, and aren't expected until lunchtime (Vegas time) today.  This is my first time in Vegas.  I had always imagined a city surrounded by a flat expanse of desert.  The surrounding mountains or hills (they look like mountains to me) were a complete surprise.  Another surprise ... the ocean breeze ... hmmm ... where's the ocean?  I guess you get an ocean breeze any place that isn't protected by lush vegetation and trees.

Off the plane, I hit the ground running ... uh, no I didn't, I was wiped out.  The night before my flight, I only got three hours of sleep.  That was not intentional.  My electricity went out at home, and I woke up around 2:00 a.m. because I was hot.  I was freaking out because I knew I had to be at the airport at 5:00 a.m., and if I had no electricity, I was going to be hard pressed to get ready to go.  I couldn't go back to sleep, but thankfully the electricity came back on so I was ready when my ride to the airport showed up.

Flying is such an energy sucker.  I slept for several hours when I got here, then hit the ground running.  I  haven't seen much of the strip in the daytime yet, but its a stunner at night!  It really is a sparkling gym in the desert.  And it has more energy flowing up and down it than I've probably had my entire life ;)

Vegas tips to come.  Wit may be optional.  I am suffering a bit of caffeine withdrawal.  I have yet to find the Splenda Diet Coke.  Hmmm, I thought these people were more progressive than the south.  Guess they are more concerned with the latest in alcohol beverages than soda.

TTFN.

  1. Glad you (and your new jeans) made it!

Enjoy the sights and avoid the one-armed bandits.

  2. @IG -- thanks! I'm currently enjoying my complimentary breakfast, planning the day (mostly how to get around without killing my feet), and looking out at the mountains ... nice.

  3. I've been to Vegas several times, but I don't gamble much. I prefer walking around and looking at the different hotels and the outsides. Have a good time and post some pictures.
