Don't ploy with me.

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Hmmm ... the mirror saga goes on.

Earlier today, I got a call on my cell phone.

The caller was the woman who runs or owns the antique store where said mirror, which I previously discussed a few blogs ago, is located.

She says to me, "Hi, this is Dena from blankety blank store, and I am calling about the mirror you were interested in."

I say, "Oh yes, Deana.  How are you?"

She says, "I'm fine.  I was calling to let you know there is a lady here measuring the mirror, and I wanted to know if you were still interested in it."

I said, "What do you mean you have a lady there measuring it."  Just so you readers can knit your brows together too, I will let you in on what I already know --- the mirror's precise measurements were clearly visible on a sticker located on the face of the mirror each of the three times I saw it, so I'm pretty sure no one should have need to measure it.

She said, "There is a lady who is interested in buying it, and she is measuring it, and I had your name on it, so I wanted to give you a call to let you know."

I replied, "Well, as I mentioned when we last spoke, I didn't have ready transportation to get the mirror home, and I had to take the chance of someone else buying it.  My circumstance has not changed.  So, if you have a buyer for it, you should sell it to her."

She said, "Okay, I understand.  I just wanted to let you know."

I said, "I appreciate that."  We then hung up.

Call me crazy, but I never asked her to hold the mirror for me, and she never indicated to me that she would do so.  Am I the only one that feels like her call was more of a fishing expedition?

  1. I was think it more of a good store owner trying to do the right thing to a good customer. Now you make the think she is a scumbag. Let’s go burn down her store.

  2. @CP, not so much ... or she would have brought that mirror to me, instead of trying to drop it 10 miles from my home. And, I don't believe her about that woman measuring it, because it already had its measurements on it! Unless of course, that woman was blind.

  3. Yeah I was thinking she was being manipulative or like you said, fishing. That sticker thing is what made it obvious!

  4. Argh. Well, you could give her the benefit of a doubt and think, she was trying to be nice, and give ya chance to snap up the mirror first...

    ...mmm.. that takes some effort.

  5. Gah! Those antique/junk store owners are SOOoooo annoying!!! I'm still heading down soon and I could go and try to get it for 25% off. Of course, by now, she thinks it is one REALLY hot mirror!
