That's what some people have been known to say around here when nothing is going on. Yep, we totally talk like that, even though we totally know better. Come down south and live for awhile, and you will likely talk like that too, even though you totally know better.
Since there isn't much going on in my brain today, I thought I would share that nothingness with you:
My boss sent me an email earlier this morning sending me a cumulative list of this week's "Word of The Day" emails which he subscribed to after I recommended the site to him. He forgets that I am the one that hooked him up with that site in the first place. Whatever. I always forget to check mine anyways, so I don't mind that he forgets and sends me ones that are of particular interest to him. Not only do I learn new words, but I also get to see a slice of his insides. The topic of this week's words that interested him, was "Toponyms." I'm sure that all of you know what a toponym is. However, no search of my brain resulted in recognition of this word's meaning for me. So, being a "never to be bested by any word" sort of person, I automatically reached for my dictionary. I quickly flipped towards the back of the book, because of course that is where the "Ts" live. Looking down, all I saw was a string of names and numbers. Shit, I was trying to look up the meaning of Toponym in the phonebook. Great, I'm either working on autopilot, or I'm sliding down senility hill. See you on the way down Coffeypot ;)

Heheheh, so what does Toponym mean?
ReplyDelete@Nikki -- What?? Don't you have a phonebook to look up that word? Seriously, I searched for "Toponym" in my desk dictionary otherwise known as "The Concise American Heritage Dictionary" which is apparently way too concise. It didn't have the word toponym in it, so I deduced from the Greek word topo (meaning place or region) that Toponyms are words which take on a meaning in some way related to a place or region. Like bayonet ... (which was created in Bayonne, France).
ReplyDeleteAccording to my dictionary, Mr. Ramsey Toponym lives at 136 West Elm Street. You want his phone number? :)
ReplyDelete@Intense Guy -- Not if he happens to live next door to Freddy Krueger's place!
ReplyDeleteI looked over my shoulder and saw you slidding down way behind me. But that's okay. If your brain is like mine you will be having more fun than being at Six Flags.
ReplyDeleteI thought Toponym was a linebacker for the Packers. But...uh...um...what's a Dictionary?
@Coffeypot -- Oh yeah, may as well have a good time at it, not much else to do about it but to have a good laugh at ourselves ;)
ReplyDeleteI don't know nothing bout no football, so who knows, it could be. Ummm ... look up the word dictionary in the phone book and see what it says a dictionary is ;)
HA!!! For me, I kinda figured that it was like having an orgasm while your on top. Thats the thing that came to mind, truly.
ReplyDelete@Nikki, OMG ... hah hah, that's outrageously funny!
