Jury Duty = New Pair of Jeans!!!!

Gotta love it.  The perpetrator whose trial I was likely to be a juror in, pled guilty, and I'm getting a check for my hour's worth of trouble.  Thanks for the new pair of jeans perp!  Hmmm, I wonder if I should tell them to keep the money.  That really would be a civic duty.  Hey, I already pick up litter ... gimme a break ... I "need" new jeans to take to Vegas.

  1. Take the money and run.

I got a chewing out by a judge once when we were told it was our civic duty to serve on the jury. I broke in and told him anything that has a punishment of a fine or jail time for not showing up IS NOT a civic duty. It is a forced demand. I would be glad to serve and do what is requried of me, but don't tell me it is a civic duty to do so. I didn’t get chosen for the trial. I find ways to get kicked off overtime it come up.

  2. @CP -- I'm gonna take the money and walk. To heck with running. :)

  3. Does this mean you are "free to go" to Vegas without this "duty" hanging over your head?

  4. Your county must pay more than mine does ... I didn't make nearly enough from jury duty to pay for a pair of jeans, and I buy mine off eBay. :-)

  5. They pay $25.00 a day. Not a lot, but just enough to buy my new pair of Bandolino jeans which I found on sale ... sweet!

  8. @Jay ... Canadians must be less likely to be criminals ;) Less crime, less need for jurors! Keep up the good behavior!

@Nikki -- that's right, $25.00 smackers a day (which turned out to be $25.00 for one hour of my time). I'm totally cool with that! And got the check in today's mail. Muahhh! Semi free money!
